A monthly mail ritual for Postcrossers

Turn every postcard into a little work of art.

Each month, a small envelope arrives with real variety to decorate at least five postcards.

For beginners

New to decorating postcards?

Not sure how much is too much, or where to even start? A sticker or two, a strip of washi along one edge, a scrap of paper tucked in a corner β€” that's usually plenty. Leave room for the address and stamp, and keep everything flat so it survives the post. The kit gives you just enough to try things out each month, without ending up with a drawer full of stickers you'll never use.

What's inside

Real variety, never a hoard.

Every kit mixes focal stickers, ephemera, washi tape and vintage stamps, plus a couple of surprise postcards each month. Pieces are picked in complementary colours, but never a perfectly matched set β€” the whole point is variety, so decorating never gets boring.

🌸

Focal & sheet stickers

At least 5 focal stickers plus more sheet stickers, for anchoring and layering each postcard.

βœ‚οΈ

Ephemera & collage scraps

Tiny papers, magazine clippings and newsprint snippets for texture and story.

πŸ“„

Bigger & smaller paper cuts

At least 5 of each. The bigger pieces are background paper β€” you'll only need a sliver a month, so the rest carries over for next time, or for journaling.

πŸŽ€

Washi tape

30cm in mixed widths and designs β€” enough to dress two edges of a standard 10Γ—15cm postcard.

🏷️

Vintage stamps

At least 5 old and vintage-style stamps, for that well-travelled look.

πŸ’Œ

2 surprise postcards

Animals, art, illustrations, iconic series β€” always suitable to send anywhere. Some thick, some thin, never the same set twice.

At least 40g of curated supplies in every envelope.

Why only two postcards? Most Postcrossers like receiving local cards. These two are for adding variety to your collection without buying a whole pack of similar designs. You also won't find fabric or bulky items in this kit: anything that could damage a postcard in the post stays out. Want bigger, bolder pieces instead? Try the Journaling Kit.

Why The Busy Journal

We source so you don't have to.

Curating decoration supplies takes hours β€” sifting through overseas shops, guessing at sizes, hoping colours work together. We do that work every month, so you can just open the envelope and start decorating.

Sourced worldwide

From small indie makers to online marketplaces across the globe β€” we hunt down whatever gives the best variety, wherever it's made.

Coordinated, not identical

Pieces are picked in complementary colours, but never a matched set β€” so every postcard looks a little different.

Postcard-scale sizing

Nothing too big: every piece is cut for decorating a postcard. Prefer bigger pieces? Try the Journaling Kit.

Real variety, not a hoard

Fresh supplies every month, so you're never stuck decorating with the same 20 stickers.
